AT AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PHYSICAL THERAPY ARKANSAS (AAPTAR), we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change in Physical Therapy and all other professions in Arkansas. Since our beginning in August 2020, we’ve been driven by the same ideals and ideas as was initiated by our founding fathers on September 16, 1989 in Chicago. MISSION STATEMENT

AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PHYSICAL THERAPY ARKANSAS (AAPTAR) Mission Statements:

 1. Advocate for Anti-Racism, as well as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Physical Therapy and other professions.

2. Invent DEI measuring tool to assess DEI programs, rate DEI programs, and publish DEI programs reports annually.

3. Advocate outreach and bridge programs between majority white and majority minority institutions of Higher Learning to improve minority recruitments and retentions.

4. Drastically improve minority participation in Physical Therapy and other professions to improve health care delivery to our diverse communities.

5. Conduct and publish researches on disabilities, diseases, and dysfunctions that affect majority minority populations.

6. Support and mentor minority students in Physical Therapy and other professions.

7. Educate minority populations on healthy living.

8. Advocate changes to admissions criteria for Physical Therapy and other professional programs to reflect the general population in which we live and work in.
